Chassis Number Locations

Passenger door jamb (B-pillar data label)

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door and look at the B-pillar door jamb. You’re looking for a black manufacturer sticker/data label with white/silver text; the VIN is printed on it (often vertically).
• Access: Low difficulty. No tools needed, but you may need to reposition for better light in the door shut area.
• Note: Works the same for LHD and RHD cars—this label is on the passenger-side jamb (relative to the vehicle’s left/right).

• Note: On LHD cars it’s typically on the left side of the windshield (as viewed from the rear/direction of travel). On RHD it’s commonly on the opposite side.

Engine bay VIN stamp (strut tower / inner wing)

• Access: Medium to high difficulty. The area can be dusty/greasy, and the stamped characters may be filled with dirt—wipe/scrub first.
