Chassis Number Locations

B-Pillar Sticker

• Where to look: Open a front door and check the lower B-pillar/door jamb area for a black sticker with white text listing the VIN and weight ratings.
• Access: Low difficulty. No tools—just open the door and wipe dust off the label if needed.
• Note: On LHD (EU/US) cars this sticker is commonly on the driver-side door jamb, but it may appear on the opposite side depending on market/production.
• Tip: If you don’t want to mistype characters, scan the VIN directly from the sticker and let OCR capture it cleanly.

Dashboard (Windshield)

• Where to look: Look through the windshield at the bottom corner of the dashboard, typically on the driver-side area (visible from outside the car).
• Access: Variable difficulty. Easy to reach, but reflections/glare on the windshield can make it hard to read or photograph.
• Note: Best checked from outside in shade or with the interior lights off to reduce reflections.

• Note: The stamped VIN is on the right-hand side of the chassis. For LHD vehicles it’s commonly on the passenger-side front footwell, but check the driver side footwell if you don’t find it (market/trim variation happens).

Engine Bay (Strut Tower / Rain Channel)

• Where to look: Open the hood and check the left-side strut tower / shock mounting area, stamped into the horizontal metal flange/rain channel along the top of the wheel arch (near the coolant reservoir area).
• Access: Moderate difficulty. Hood must be open; the stamping is often body-colored (low contrast) and shadows can hide characters.
• Note: “Left” and “right” are from the driver’s perspective (direction of travel). This stamp is on the left side of the engine bay when facing forward.
