Where is the VIN number in Ford C-MAX ([2007-2010])?

This guide covers where to find the VIN (chassis number) on the Ford C-MAX produced between 2007 and 2010, including the quick-to-check windshield plate and the more hidden stamped chassis location under the carpet.

Chassis Number Locations

Front windshield (dashboard VIN plate)

• Where to look: Look through the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side, at the base of the dashboard near the A-pillar—you’ll see the VIN plate through the glass.
• Access: Easy to reach, but glare, reflections, and dirt on the windshield can block your camera view.
• Note: This is the most common “inspection” VIN and is usually the fastest place to confirm the number on an LHD C-MAX.

Passenger B-pillar / door jamb label

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door and check the lower B-pillar (door jamb) for a white sticker/label with black text listing weights and the VIN.

• Note: On LHD vehicles, this is on the right side of the car (passenger side). On RHD markets it may be mirrored to the opposite side.

Front footwell floor (under carpet flap, stamped into chassis)

• Where to look: In the front passenger footwell floor area (commonly on the passenger side for LHD vehicles, but check the driver side footwell if not found). It’s under the floor mat with a rectangular pre-cut carpet flap—lift the flap to reveal the VIN stamped into the metal.
• Access: Physically awkward and very dark; you’ll usually need a flashlight. The stamping can also be dirty/corroded since it’s on the floor.
• Note: The inspected vehicle shows this stamping on the right-hand front floor. Floor stamp locations can vary by market, so check both front footwells if needed.

Common Problems & Troubleshooting

• Windshield VIN glare: Reflections from the dash or sun can wash out the plate—change angle, shade the area, or clean the glass.
• Floor VIN hard to expose: The carpet flap can be stiff or hidden under the mat; slide the seat back, pull the mat out, then pry/lift the rectangular cut-out and use a flashlight.
• Sticker isn’t proof of identity: A door-jamb label can be replaced or damaged—always cross-check the windshield VIN against the stamped chassis VIN when verifying a vehicle.
