Where is the VIN number in Mercedes-Benz Klasa C (W204)?

This guide shows where to find the VIN (chassis number) on the Mercedes-Benz Klasa C (W204) produced between 2007–2014, including the quick sticker locations and the hidden stamped chassis VIN used for verification.

Chassis Number Locations

Driver’s side B-pillar sticker (door jamb)

• Where to look: Open the driver’s door and check the B-pillar/door jamb area for a black manufacturer sticker with white text. It lists the VIN plus weight ratings.
• Access: Very easy—no tools, no removal, usually clean and high-contrast.
• Note: Written for LHD vehicles (as shown in the source). If you don’t see it on this side, check the opposite side.
• Tip: This label scans extremely well—use the camera to scan it directly with the free VIN reader instead of copying characters by hand.

Passenger’s side B-pillar sticker (alternative)

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door and inspect the passenger-side B-pillar/door jamb for the same black manufacturer label.
• Access: Very easy—same style sticker, same high-contrast print.
• Note: Some cars end up with the label on the opposite side (market differences, repairs, or replacement parts), so it’s worth checking both.
• Tip: If the sticker is vertical and you’re at an awkward angle, capture it with your phone using ScanVin.app so you don’t misread 0/O or 1/I.

Windshield VIN plate (dashboard view)

• Where to look: From outside the car, look through the lower corner of the front windshield, where a metal plate is riveted to the dashboard (typically on the left side for LHD).
• Access: Easy to see, but reflections and glare can make it annoying to read.
• Note: Best checked in shade or with your body blocking direct sunlight.
• Tip: To beat windshield glare, change your angle slightly and scan the VIN instantly with your phone to avoid transcription mistakes.

Stamped chassis VIN under the front passenger seat (floor stamp)

• Where to look: Under the front passenger seat, there’s a pre-cut flap in the carpet/floor covering. Lift the carpet flap and the foam insulation underneath to reveal the VIN stamped into the metal floor/chassis cross-member.
• Access: Harder—slide the seat fully back, then lift the flap and insulation. The area is shadowed and the stamp can be low-contrast.
• Note: Commonly found on the passenger side for LHD vehicles, but if you don’t find it there, check the driver-side front footwell area as well.
• Tip: Because it’s dark and the stamp is faint, use the app’s light and OCR—open the VIN scanner and use Flashlight + OCR while holding the carpet fully out of the way.
