Chassis Number Locations

Passenger B-Pillar (manufacturer label sticker)

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door (LHD models) and look at the lower B-pillar / door jamb area. You’ll see a black or silver manufacturer label with the VIN plus weight ratings and paint info.
• Access: Low difficulty. No tools—just open the door and wipe dust off the sticker if needed.
• Note: On LHD Outlanders, this main label is typically on the passenger side; on RHD cars it may appear on the opposite side.

• Where to look: Open the hood and look at the center of the firewall just below the windshield cowl plastic. • Access: Moderate difficulty. Steep viewing angle, often dirty, and partly hidden by rubber trim/cowl overhang—bring a flashlight and a rag.
• Note: This is the stamped chassis number in the body metal (the one I trust most for identity checks), but it’s not the easiest to photograph.
