Where is the VIN number in Dacia Duster II (2018-2021)?

This guide covers the Dacia Duster II (2018–2021) (also sold as Renault Duster in some markets). You’ll usually find the VIN in multiple places—some are easy (stickers/plates), and some are legally “hard” locations (stamped into the body).

Chassis Number Locations

Passenger Door B-Pillar (VIN Sticker)

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door and check the lower section of the B-pillar / door jamb. There’s a VIN label sticker with VIN + weight ratings + paint info.
• Access: Very easy. No tools. But stickers can fade, peel, or get painted over after bodywork.
• Note: Written for LHD vehicles; the label is still on the passenger-side door jamb in the examples.

Engine Compartment – Right Front Strut Tower (Stamped VIN)

• Where to look: In the engine bay, locate the top of the right-front suspension strut tower (right side of the car in direction of travel; typically the passenger side on LHD). The VIN is stamped directly into the metal and is visible without removing covers.
• Access: Generally easy, but it may be dusty/dirty and the angle can be tight depending on lighting.
• Note: On LHD models shown, this is on the right side of the engine bay.

Lower Windshield / Dashboard VIN Plate

• Where to look: Look through the bottom corner of the windshield (commonly the driver-side corner). You’ll see a VIN plate under the glass on top of the dashboard.
• Access: Very easy—no tools, no opening panels.
• Note: Reflections/glare and dirt in the cowl area can block visibility.
• Tip: Glare is the main problem here—use ScanVin.app to capture the VIN quickly without transcription mistakes when the glass is reflecting sunlight.

Floor / Under Front Passenger Seat (Stamped VIN Under Carpet Flap)

• Where to look: Inside the cabin, check the floor cross-member under the front passenger seat. Lift the carpet and locate the pre-cut flap—the stamped number is underneath.
• Access: Medium difficulty. You may need to slide the seat, move mats, and work in a dark footwell area.
• Note: This one is commonly on the passenger side for LHD vehicles, but check the driver side footwell if not found.

Engine Block (Stamped Number)

• Where to look: On a flat machined surface of the engine block (shown on H4M petrol examples), typically behind hoses/wiring. Some access improves if the air intake duct is moved.

• Note: This location can vary slightly by engine type (petrol vs diesel) due to hose/loom routing.
