Where is the VIN in the Fiat 500?

Chassis Number Locations

Passenger Floor (Stamped Chassis VIN under “VIN” flap)

• Where to look: In the front footwell floor, under the carpet in front of the seat. Look for a pre-cut rectangular plastic access flap labeled “VIN”—lift/pull that flap to reveal the VIN stamped into the metal floor pan underneath.
• Access: It’s dark and recessed, so you’ll usually need a flashlight and a steady camera angle to focus on the stamp. No tools required—just pry/lift the plastic flap.
• Note: On many LHD cars this is commonly on the passenger side, but if you don’t find it there, check the driver-side front footwell as well.

Windshield (Lower Corner / Dash VIN plate)

• Where to look: Viewed through the windshield, at the very bottom corner where the glass meets the dashboard, typically on the driver’s side on LHD vehicles. The VIN is printed on a plate.
• Access: Easy to reach, but visibility can be affected by glare/reflections and water droplets on the glass.
• Note: Best checked from outside the car in daylight, then adjust your viewing angle to reduce reflections.
• Tip: If glare makes characters hard to read, capture it instantly with the VIN scanner so you don’t transpose letters/numbers.

Engine Bay (Right-side strut tower / inner fender sticker)

• Where to look: Open the hood and check the right side of the engine bay (passenger side on LHD). Look on the strut tower/inner fender wall for a black sticker with white text, near the coolant expansion tank and shock mount area.
• Access: Often partially obstructed by hoses/AC lines and can be dirty, so you may need to reposition your phone and wipe the surface.
• Note: Stickers are useful, but the stamped floor VIN is typically the primary legal identifier.

The VIN is stamped into the metal chassis and is usually hidden under the main trunk carpet/liner—look for a pre-cut rectangular flap you can lift to expose the stamping.

Passenger B-Pillar (VIN Label)

• Where to look: Open the right-side front door and look on the lower section of the B-pillar (door jamb area). You’ll see a black manufacturer label with VIN/vehicle data.
• Access: Fully open the door and inspect the sticker—usually easy to see and fairly clean, but it can be scuffed if passengers drag shoes getting into the rear.
• Note: On RHD models, this label may be on the left (passenger) side instead.
• Tip: If the label print is small or partially worn, use the VIN reader to capture it cleanly so you don’t mistype characters like 8/B or 5/S.

Dashboard / Windshield (VIN Viewing Window)

• Where to look: Check the bottom corner of the windshield where the dashboard meets the glass (commonly the driver-side viewing window on many cars).
