Chassis Number Locations

Windshield (dashboard) VIN tag

• Where to look: At the lower corner of the windshield on the passenger side in LHD vehicles, visible through the glass in a small dashboard cutout (white text on a dark background).

• Note: On RHD vehicles this label is typically on the driver-side B-pillar instead.

Floor (under mat / carpet flap) stamped VIN

• Where to look: In the front footwell floor, under the floor mat, beneath a rectangular pre-cut flap in the carpet (often with foam backing). The VIN is stamped into the chassis metal and may be covered by clear protective tape/film.
• Access: Moderate—remove the mat, locate the cutout between the seat rail and door sill, then lift the carpet flap. Expect shadows and some dirt in the footwell.
• Note: On this Kuga II generation the stamp is commonly on the right-hand side floor pan. For LHD cars that’s commonly the passenger footwell, but check the driver footwell if you don’t find it.
