Where is the VIN number in Mercedes-Benz GLE (V167)?

This guide shows the VIN (chassis number) locations on the Mercedes-Benz GLE (V167) produced between 2019–2021, including the quickest “open-the-door” label and the hidden stamped VIN under the carpet.

Chassis Number Locations

B-Pillar Certification Label

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door (LHD) and look at the B-pillar in the door aperture. The VIN is printed on a black sticker with white text, typically below the door latch striker area.
• Access: Easy—just open the door fully. Watch for glare from sunlight or camera flash on the glossy label.
• Note: On RHD cars the same type of label is on the front passenger side B-pillar (left side of the vehicle), but for most LHD GLEs it’s on the right-side B-pillar (front passenger door opening).
• Tip: If reflections wash out the characters, scan it directly with your phone at a slight angle so the camera grabs the VIN without transcription mistakes.

Floor / Chassis Stamp (Under Front Seat Carpet Flap)

• Where to look: Check the right-side front floor area under the front seat. There’s usually a pre-cut carpet flap—lift it to reveal the VIN stamped into the metal floor/cross-member.
• Access: Moderate. The carpet flap can be stiff, and the area is dark under the seat, so you’ll be working at an awkward angle while holding the flap up.
• Note: The stamp is consistently on the right side of the vehicle. On LHD models that’s commonly under the front passenger seat; on RHD models it may end up under the driver seat—but it’s still the right-side floor location.

Windshield VIN (Visible VIN Plate)

• Where to look: Look through the windshield at the lower corner, where the VIN is visible behind the glass (commonly on the driver-side lower corner depending on market).

• Note: This is a common “visible VIN” location on this generation even when you don’t want to open doors or lift carpets.
