Where is the VIN number in Renault Kadjar (2015-2020)?

This guide shows where to find the VIN/chassis number on the Renault Kadjar produced between 2015 and 2020, including the hidden stamped chassis VIN and the quicker sticker/glass locations.

Chassis Number Locations

1) Engine bay – bulkhead/scuttle panel (stamped VIN)

• Where to look: The VIN is stamped into the metal chassis on the bulkhead, but it’s hidden under the plastic ventilation grille/scuttle panel at the base of the windshield (near the wipers). You must lift a rectangular access flap in the plastic cowl to see it.
• Access: Medium difficulty. Open the bonnet, find the rectangular cut-out panel in the scuttle trim, pull the rubber weather strip partway off, then lift the plastic flap to reveal the stamped VIN on the painted metal underneath. A torch/flashlight helps a lot because the characters can be hard to read when they’re painted over or dusty.
• Note: The example vehicle in the footage is RHD (UK), where this access is shown on the left side of the car (passenger side in the UK). For LHD vehicles (EU), check the passenger-side cowl area (right side of the car) first; if you don’t find it, check the opposite side as trim layouts can vary.
• Tip: If the stamping is “white-on-white” (painted over) or dirty, use angled light and scan it directly with high-contrast OCR to avoid misreading similar characters (8/B, 5/S, 1/I).

2) B-pillar / door jamb VIN label (sticker)

• Where to look: A printed VIN sticker/label on the B-pillar (the pillar between the front and rear doors).
• Access: Low difficulty. Open the front door and inspect the B-pillar area for a black-and-white label (often also includes paint/weights info).
• Note: Label side can vary by market/trim. On many LHD cars it’s commonly on the driver-side B-pillar (left side of the car), but if it’s not there, check the other side.
• Tip: This is usually high-contrast and scans easily—use the VIN camera scanner so you don’t type it manually and accidentally swap characters.

3) Lower windshield (dashboard VIN)

• Where to look: The VIN may be visible through the windshield at the lower corner of the dash (market-dependent placement).
• Access: Low/Medium difficulty. Easy to see when clean, but glare/reflections can block it.
• Note: If reflections are bad, change viewing angle or shade the glass with your body.
• Tip: For heavy glare, capture the VIN with your phone instantly to reduce transcription errors caused by reflections and curved glass.
