Where is the VIN number in Renault Talisman (2016-2017)?

This guide shows you where to locate the VIN (chassis number) on the Renault Talisman (2016–2017), including the fastest places to check on both Sedan and Estate/Grandtour models (LHD context shown in the source video).

Chassis Number Locations

B-Pillar Stamped Chassis (Passenger Side Door Jamb)

• Where to look: Open the front passenger door (for LHD cars) and inspect the B-pillar metal. The VIN is stamped vertically into the painted bodywork on the center pillar area (near/behind where the front door closes).
• Access: Easy to reach, but it’s often painted over in body color (especially on black cars) so the characters can be hard to see; dirt/grease around the pillar area can also hide the stamp. Tilt the phone because the VIN runs up-and-down.
• Note: The videos show LHD (European-spec) cars; this stamp is still on the B-pillar area, but always verify it matches your documents.
• Tip: If the stamp is low-contrast, use your phone light and scan it directly with ScanVin.app so the camera captures the stamped shadows instead of you guessing characters.

B-Pillar Manufacturer Sticker (Passenger Side Door Jamb)

• Where to look: In the passenger-side door jamb, look on the lower B-pillar for the manufacturer label/sticker (below the door latch striker area). It typically includes the VIN plus paint/weights data.
• Access: Usually the easiest VIN to read, but stickers can be torn, faded, peeling, or damaged over time.
• Note: This is a label VIN (not stamped metal). It’s useful for quick checking, but the stamped VIN is the permanent identifier.
• Tip: If the sticker is scratched or partly missing, use the free VIN reader to capture what’s still legible without transcription errors.

Windshield VIN Plate (Lower Corner)

• Where to look: From outside the car, look through the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side (VIN plate visible on top of the dashboard).

• Note: Best viewed when the dash area is shaded; move your body angle to reduce reflections.
