Where is the VIN number in Volvo V50 (2004-2010)?

Chassis Number Locations

Right-side B-pillar VIN label (manufacturer sticker)

• Where to look: Open the right-front door. On the B-pillar, find the black manufacturer label located below the door latch striker area. The 17-digit VIN is printed near the bottom of this label.
• Access: Very easy—no tools needed. On older cars the sticker can fade, scratch, or start peeling.

• Where to look: Open the hood and go to the center area of the firewall/bulkhead just below the windshield. Look at the plastic cowl panel at the base of the windshield—there’s a small rectangular cutout/flap slightly off-center. Through that opening, the VIN is stamped into the metal chassis.
• Access: Moderate difficulty. The opening is tight, the area is often shadowed, and leaves/dirt can hide digits—expect to reposition your phone for the right angle.
• Note: The cutout position may appear slightly different between RHD vs LHD, but it’s still in the same general cowl/firewall zone.

Windshield / dashboard VIN (lower corner)

• Where to look: From outside the vehicle, check the lower corner of the windshield on the left side (vehicle-left, as seen from the rear). The VIN is typically visible through the glass on a small plate at the base of the dash.

• Note: This is the engine number, not the body VIN—use it for matching documentation or verifying a swapped engine.
