Chassis Number Locations

Dashboard / Windshield (driver’s side)

• Where to look: Look through the lower left corner of the windshield (driver’s side). The VIN sits on a plate at the top of the dashboard under the glass.

Front Passenger Floor (Under Seat, stamped into chassis)

• Where to look: Slide the front passenger seat all the way back. In the carpet, find a small plastic cover/flap; lift the flap to reveal the VIN stamped into the metal cross-member.
• Access: A bit awkward and dark under the seat. You must move the seat and lift the carpet flap; the stamping may be dusty/dirty.
• Note: “Passenger seat” means the seat position, not the geometric side. On LHD RAV4s it’s commonly the right front seat, but if you don’t find it there, check the other front footwell as well.
